Position Title- Data Modeler

Location- Calgary, AB

Job Summary –

A Master Data Management (MDM) Data Modeler plays a crucial role in the governance and management of critical data. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models that ensure the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of master data across multiple systems. These professionals work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, and IT teams to create and implement data management solutions that support business processes and decision-making

Years of experience needed – 7+ year.

Technical Skills:

• Lead and mentor a team of API Gateway developers and engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.


• Data Modeling: Develop, maintain, and optimize data models for master data domains, ensuring they meet the organization’s requirements and standards.


• Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality and integrity.


• Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.


• Data Integration: Design and implement data integration solutions to consolidate master data from various source systems into a single, unified view.


• Data Quality Management: Define and implement data quality rules, metrics, and processes to monitor and improve the quality of master data.


• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, data flows, and data governance processes.


• Training and Support: Provide training and support to data stewards and business users on data management best practices and tools.

Data Quality and Governance

• Implement data quality standards and processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.


• Work with data stewards and governance teams to enforce data governance policies.


• Monitor and audit data models to ensure compliance with data governance standards.

Technical Implementation

• Design and implement MDM solutions using industry-standard tools and technologies.


• Ensure the integration of MDM systems with other enterprise applications and data sources.


• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for MDM solutions.

Certifications Needed:

• Certifications: MDM Tools: Experience with MDM tools and platforms (e.g., Informatica MDM, IBM InfoSphere, SAP MDG).


• Data Architecture: Knowledge of data architecture frameworks and best practices.


• Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Informatica Certified MDM Specialist, are highly desirable.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.


• Experience: Several years of experience in data modeling, data management, or a related field, preferably within an MDM environment.


• Technical Skills: Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin), SQL, and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).


• Data Governance: Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and tools.


• Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and business requirements.


• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.


• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in data modeling and documentation.


• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
