Practice Details:
Northern Health is seeking LOCUM OB/GYNs at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) in Prince George; British Columbia’s Northern Capital! Prince George is the centre of business, education, health and culture for Northern BC. The UHNBC group serves a rural population of 400,000 people over an area of 600,000 square kilometers.This opportunity is Fee-for-service (FFS) with an Income Guarantee (IG) of a minimum $4670/ per 24h period inclusive of all income sources, MOCAP and RRP. In addition, your flights, car rental, hotel accommodation (or temporary rental accommodation of your choice), and per diems on travel days will be covered. Assistance with travel and accommodation bookings is available.
Hours of work / On-Call:
- 24 hours with a minimum of 10 hours on-site
- Number of consecutive days and frequency of on-call is negotiable
With approximately 1,200 deliveries per year, UHNBC It is the main teaching center for Medical Students in the UBC Northern Medical Program and provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is on the hospital site, offering radiation and medical oncology services. We have medical students and family medicine residents who rotate through our service, as well as a senior OB/Gyn resident on community rotation from UBC for part of the year.
Locum Dates are open and flexible, and our team will customize your shifts based on your availability
Qualifications:
- Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
- Obstetric experience
- Doctorate in Medicine

$4,670/24 hours
RSA Incentives
Fee-for-Service (FFS) income guarantee (IG) $4670 per 24-hour period inclusive of all income sources. $4670 minimum.
Travel, accommodation, and car rental covered.
Travel stipend: $250 - $1,500 based on time. Maximum $1,500 per round trip.

The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is the largest Acute Care facility within the Northern Health region, and a hub for specialized health services. It’s also a teaching hospital:- Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia
- Hosts residents in UBC’s Family Practice Residency Program
- Is a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia,
- Patient care addition with an expanded emergency room
- State-of-the-art maternal-child care centre (including a single room neonatal ICU)
- Facilities to accommodate undergraduate physician training
- MRI unit
UHNBC is also home to a cancer centre for Northern BC, featuring a wide range of cancer treatments including radiation therapy
