Overview

The program director will drive execution of the largest and most complex global programs across the delivery lifecycle while using their expertise to remove barriers and deliver successful outcomes. Operating at the most senior level with customers and/or internal stakeholders; managing business change and implementing business strategy to meet the goals and objectives of Altera and our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to drive predictable delivery for the largest, most complex, and critical projects, leveraging deep expertise and experience to drive scope, resources, and projects.
  • Drives overall strategy for project delivery across a varied environment of technology and partners, connecting cross-functional, global, and virtual project teams to deliver a successful project management office.
  • Demonstrate proven experience to foster and manage successful relationships with senior executive stakeholders aligning expectations and achieving successful program outcomes.
  • Manage stakeholder communications with executive-level leaders on project health, issues, and financial performance throughout entire project lifecycle, tailoring communications to the audience, anticipating stakeholder requirements and adapting the plans accordingly.
  • Establishes formal rhythms to ensure tracking and maintenance deliverables and collect and report status with all executive stakeholders.
  • Hold a solid understanding of business financial practices and a deep understanding of program financials, proactively oversees robust financial governance.
  • Oversees and proactively manages risks and issues within and projects of extremely high complexity, leveraging previous experience and subject matter expertise to evaluate trends in risks and optimize mitigation strategies across projects for high-impact risk scenarios using qualitative analyses (e.g., probability, impact, urgency) mitigation plan for high impact/probability risks.
  • Leads critical recoveries and engages in resolving escalations across other critical projects and ensures procedures and tools are updated.
  • Manages issue closure as a high priority and utilizes contingency planning to proactively respond when risks become issues.
  • Prevents and manages complex escalations through strategic and targeted communications with executives and delivers difficult messages as needed.
  • Create an inclusive environment oriented to trust, accountability, open communication, and creative thinking.
  • Continually demonstrate a growth mindset, acquiring new skills whilst maintaining your development and adaptability.
  • Proactively ensures adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs) and provides strategic direction to drive success and adapts to high-impact changes throughout project lifecycle.
  • Ensures timely completion and quality of deliverables and tracking of agreed upon metrics across all client projects by applying quality management techniques for collecting data (e.g., benchmarking, interviews), monitoring output and implementing corrective action while proactively ensuring time and resources needed to mitigate quality risks.

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/years of experience required.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or similar project management certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma, Scrum, or SAFe For development PMs: Lean Six Sigma, Scrum, or SAFe certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 15+ years relevant work experience; 5 years at the executive level or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse personality types.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Build and maintain strong and trusting relationships with team, stakeholders, and senior leaders/executives.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, creative, and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
  • Superb negotiation skills with the ability to facilitate discussion, identify alternative approaches, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to identify and remove impediments, as well as prevent distractions for the team.
  • Strong conviction in the role of project management and willingness to take on challenges.
  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills are required (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and other PMO tools (Monday)

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 40% travel may be required

Working Arrangements:

  • Work is performed in a remote location, Altera offices and client locations.

Salary Range

$100,000—$165,000 CAD
