The opportunity

This posting is for a full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative, solution-focused and team-oriented individual to lead the maintenance unit.

Reporting to the Director of Capital Development and Maintenance, the Manager of Building Maintenance leads the maintenance team, including the planning, organizing, delivery and budgeting of critical maintenance work on more than 950 housing units; works closely with the tenants in those units and other branches within Yukon Housing; and has direct oversight of an operating budget of $4.4 million and over 110 service contracts.

  • Post-secondary training in a field related to construction management.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including direct supervision of staff and/or external contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast inventory needs and manage the timely procurement of goods and supplies to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Significant experience working within budgets, tracking costs and providing recommendations to senior management.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and reviewing contract specifications and managing maintenance and repair contracts.
  • Experience working and delivering high quality service to both external clients and internal staff, with a strong commitment to client care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and in other database management systems.

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
