Rosemont Elementary School is looking for a 0.8 FTE term Primary/Intermediate classroom teacher to work with our team of professionals in delivering an educational program to our students. This position is until Mar 13, 2026 or return of the incumbent, whichever is sooner.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated successful classroom experience in a primary and intermediate classroom. It is expected that the successful applicant will work with and follow the school-based team plans for inclusion of all students, behaviour expectations, and continue to implement whole school wide programs related to school and district strategic plans.

The awarded applicant will be energetic, collaborative and an organized individual and is committed to student learning. The successful candidate is expected to plan, prepare and present curriculum related to multiple elementary classrooms and apply current pedagogy to support student success.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Education with experience in the above noted areas

A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch

Teachers applying for this position must possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A comprehensive understanding of BC’s curriculum, First Peoples Principles of Learning, and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
  • Practical experience using proven strategies and skills for teaching early literacy and numeracy concepts.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, reconciliation and inclusion.
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, and relationship-building.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rapport with students, staff and parents in a welcoming manner.
  • Proven ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment.
  • Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress.
  • Commitment to professional learning with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to support a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience.
  • Commitment to collaboration with students, parents and staff (both school and District) to enhance the school as a learning community.
  • Training in trauma-informed practices (e.g.: Complex Trauma Resources, etc.).
  • Experience with positive behaviour support, and a willingness to support the implementation of school-wide initiatives.
