Position Overview
Nucor Rebar Fabrication is seeking a skilled professional to prepare accurate estimates of quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products, while also producing detailed shop drawings to ensure project requirements are met. The role involves collaboration with customers, project managers, and team members throughout the estimating and detailing process.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values.
- Prepare timely and accurate estimates of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products for bidding projects.
- Produce detailed shop drawings using RebarCAD or equivalent CAD-based detailing systems.
- Verify and review contract documents, specifications, addenda, and other information to ensure accurate estimates and detailing.
- Maintain an organized bid calendar and track project updates to ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with project managers, job site personnel, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather required information and ensure project requirements are met.
- Work with A/E professionals to resolve questions or issues with contract documents.
- Detail accessories, mesh, couplers, dowel bars, and prepare material lists as required.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, teammates, and field personnel regarding project requirements, schedules, and changes.
- Use RebarCAD to produce and track drawings, material lists, and replacement orders.
- Continue developing knowledge of industry standards (e.g., CRSI and ACI manuals).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- At least three years of experience in rebar or structural steel detailing, construction estimating, or a related field.
- Proficiency with RebarCAD or other CAD-based detailing systems.
- Knowledge of construction and civil technology, including concrete structures and CRSI/ACI standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for managing time effectively and prioritizing tasks.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Typical office activities, including walking, sitting, and standing.
- Use of hands for operating tools, computers, and electronic equipment.
- Ability to handle moderate noise levels and focus on detailed work.
