Duties + Responsibilities
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software to prepare correspondence and legal documents in support of corporate transactions.
- Answer the telephone, schedule appointments, questionings, and meetings, greet visitors and handle administrative and business details.
- Transcribe correspondence and legal documents from digital recordings or handwritten notes.
- Manage lawyers’ diaries and update electronic calendars.
- Review correspondence (including faxes and e-mail), co-ordinate the flow of information, update calendars and respond to routine inquiries.
- Review and proofread outgoing documents to ensure they are correct and comply with legal procedures.
- Access and use online legal resources.
- Operate office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, photocopying machines, and computer scanning equipment.
- Handle routine accounting procedures: billing, cheque deposits/requests, time entry, etc.
- Perform general office duties as required.
- Over three years of hands-on experience as a legal assistant, with a strong focus on litigation, insurance, and corporate law.
- Holds a recognized 2-year Legal Assistant Diploma, demonstrating a solid foundation in legal principles and practices.
- Highly motivated and eager to expand knowledge and grow within the legal profession.
- Proactive and self-sufficient, capable of taking the initiative to resolve issues independently while contributing effectively to team efforts.
- Possesses a consistently positive attitude, fostering a collaborative and encouraging workplace atmosphere.
- Strongly team-oriented, skilled at working closely with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Exceptional organizational skills complemented by meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and documentation.
- Adept at prioritizing responsibilities and managing multiple deadlines efficiently, ensuring timely completion of assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Normal weekday office hours (35).
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
