We are looking for a highly skilled, talented and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist in the Reinsurance Project team to join an innovative environment where creativity knows no bound.

As a key member of the dynamic reinsurance finance team, you will play a crucial role in building process for complex reinsurance accounting activities, contributing to improve closing activities, and driving multiple process enhancements. Your expertise will be pivotal in simplifying, standardizing and improving key controls to elevate our reporting and accounting processes.

In this role you will be working on large scale projects that have impacts on the reinsurance finance department and managing a portfolio of complex projects.

We are aiming to find and develop a candidate that will become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Reinsurance Finance team and will be involved in various streams of the projects where the finance department expertise is required.

In your new role, you will act as a key stakeholder to make sure that the team is well represented in these initiatives and that the need of the reinsurance finance team is well covered by preparing requirements, proposing and reviewing proposed solutions.

This is a fulltime permanent position that can be based in Montreal, Laval, Toronto or St-Hyacinthe.

Process Improvement

What you’ll do here:

  • Lead initiatives to enhance financial systems and accounting processes, addressing business challenges and needs.
  • Propose, implement, and test innovative solutions to streamline operations.
  • Ensure operational readiness for key stakeholders and provide warranty support post-deployment.

Quality Control

  • Evaluate, implement, and enhance key controls to maintain the highest quality of improvements.
  • Perform thorough assessments to ensure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.

Project Management

  • Manage a diverse project portfolio, providing regular updates to your manager.
  • Ensure alignment with group decisions and actions through timely communication.

System Optimization

  • Ensure efficient and optimal use of reinsurance and reporting systems.
  • Utilize these systems as primary data sources for producing and analyzing reinsurance results.

Support And Analysis

  • Support the reinsurance accounting team with ad hoc and recurring requests.
  • Perform complex reinsurance analysis and ensure the accuracy of financial results.
  • Conduct key reconciliations to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of reinsurance balances.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment during the month-end closing process.
  • Foster strong relationships across teams to drive collaborative success.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify areas for improvement, document proposals, and monitor progress.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Post secondary education in Finance or Accounting – is required.
  • 5+ yrs of experience including experience in month-end/quarter-end reporting combined with experience in project role.
  • Experience in Insurance/Reinsurance accounting – is a strong asset.
  • Involved in Finance and Accounting project work.
  • Demonstrated experience in fast learning environment requiring agility and adaptability to change.
  • Discipline, autonomy and professionalism.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
