Responsibilities

Full job description

Responsible as the functional lead for construction survey and drafting by carrying out the following:

  • Oversee a team of talented surveyors working on a variety of projects including highways, bridges and general civil works.
  • Undertake and coordinate the planning and implementation of construction survey and drafting for heavy civil construction projects
  • Conduct and oversee survey requirements to facilitate construction activities, including modelling for and layout of critical structures for projects, and to complete as-built surveys
  • Complete data analysis from as-built surveys and quantity calculations for progress claims
  • Recruit, train, and manage personnel, required resources, and logistics to deliver construction survey services and ice profiling services at remote sites
  • Maintain accurate records and related documentation
  • Perform drafting for various drawings required for pre-construction planning, interim and close-out documentation, or similar reporting
  • Acquire, manage, and maintain survey and ice profiling instruments and related assets
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement quality management systems and SOPs related to survey, drafting, an ice profiling activities and related deliverables
  • Support the sales process by using OCI's templates and systems, develop cost estimate and narrative inputs into proposals and assist in negotiating contracts and change orders to meet or exceed the target gross margin for construction survey and ice profiling related services scope elements.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or college diploma
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a surveyor
  • Read and interpret construction drawings
  • Knowledge of applicable Health & Safety legislation
  • DGPS (Trimble R12 or equivalent), Total Station (SX10 or equivalent), and Drone (Phantom 4 Pro or equivalent) equipment operational experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of MSOffice, ACAD Civil 3D or equivalent modelling and engineering-based drafting software
  • Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in safety and quality
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to lead a team
  • Must be physically fit, work outdoors in various weather conditions, can regularly carry 20kg of equipment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract
