TDE is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the completion of proposals and assist with the engineering and design on projects for oil & gas related processing equipment.


Responsibilities


Begin development of required industry skills while working with a Senior Process Engineer in a mentoring environment.

Process design of units (simulation, equipment sizing, etc) for oil & gas processing.

Assist and advise other engineers / technologists.

Attend client communications and meetings as required.

PFD and Heat & Material Balance generation, P&ID generation, evaluation and maintenance.

Preparation of process related document such as equipment & instrumentation datasheets, line sizing calculations, line lists, etc.

Design of selected equipment that will be manufactured in house.

Specification and/or purchasing of selected buyout equipment including issuing of Request for Quotations, vendor comparison and final vendor selection.

Select control valves and pressure safety valves.

Review and implementation of client specifications.

Work with instrumentation, piping, and vessel design groups to ensure proper process design of all equipment.

Review of fabrication drawings and 3-D model reviews.

Work with shop staff to discuss fabrication issues and assist in resolving design problems.

Provide technical support and guidance to help clients select the appropriate technology to provide the desired results.

Complete bid pre-qualifications as assigned.

Prepare cost estimates for pressure vessel, piping, structural elements and assemblies on assigned proposals under the guidance of the sales and project departments.

Review customer specifications and applicable codes.

Determine type of materials needed and any special requirements.

Liaise and obtain quotes for material and sub-vendor requirements in terms of pricing and delivery.

Provide final estimate figure and required information for bid preparation.

Working with the Proposals department to provide engineering simulations, calculations and documentation for in-house engineering and fabrication projects.

Working with the Applications Engineering department to prepare technically accurate and high quality proposals for issue to clients around the world.

Complete pressure vessel, piping, structural estimates and assembly estimates.

Monitor the performance of and continually improve and update estimating tools.

Actively participate in the development of new estimating tools and procedures.

Qualifications


5 years of experience in an Applications Engineer role with an EPCM company (Oil & Gas Engineering & Fabrication).

Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.

Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.

Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.

Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.

Proficiency in process simulation is a necessary requirement for the position (ie HYSYS, ProMax)

Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, Bluebeam and other software systems.

Excellent written communication skills.

Strong editing and proofreading skills.

Exceptional interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity toward client engagements and confidentiality when interacting with TDE leadership.

Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.
