Quality Technician

Dura-Line is hiring a Quality Technician in our manufacturing plant in St. Albert, AB to help oversee the production of high-quality products within the department. You will help facilitate and assist in the quality assurance, document control, and safety functions at our plant. We are looking for someone that is hands-on, and very customer-centric and results-oriented.
Schedule:
Days: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Must also be flexible to work 12 hour shifts (6:45am-7pm on a 3/2/2/3 rotation) as operational needs dictate or to cover vacations.
What will you be doing?
- Perform quality inspections and testing to ensure compliance with all applicable standards by using measuring tools/calibration.
- Work with production personnel to create and maintain continuous improvement in products and services to our customers
- Perform quality control checks on company products to ensure they meet required safety and quality standards
- Perform daily line audit to proactively help correct defects and look for root cause corrective actions, walk through the 5Y and look at trends
- Perform inspections across all stages of production and conducts lab testing for incoming raw materials and manufactured goods so that they are safe to use and meet or exceed acceptable tolerances
- Strong desire for personal advancement and the willingness to achieve by learning our manufacturing systems and reporting as scheduled with an upbeat team player mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
- Monitor the integrity and quality of products without impeding production rates
- Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required
What will help you be successful in this role?
- 1-2 year(s) experience working in manufacturing environment that is interested or has a passion for quality
- Working knowledge and experience with MS Excel, MS Word, Data Entry for reporting
- Nice to have SAP or ERP inventory system desirable (centralized enterprise management system), SharePoint
- ASQ certification
- Manufacturing software
- Possess a working knowledge of the resin system
- Basic understanding of test equipment
- Inspect product during the extrusion process
- Test incoming raw material and maintain records
- Great Attention to detail

Occupational and / or Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance
- Ability to climb ladders, listen to equipment, look for defects in product and sense temperature changes in the finished product
- Ability to hold conduit and drive nails into reel flanges simultaneously
- Ability to move from one area to another by stepping over and/or bending under objects
- Ability to use hand tools: electric saw, air nail gun, hammer, banding equipment, crow bar
- Mobility sufficient to allow frequent entrance and exits from lift truck
- Ability to spend up to 12 hours a shift on your feet around hot machinery
- Ability to recognize color spectrum

The compensation for this position will typically start at $27.00 an hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience and internal equity.
