Warren Sinclair LLP is looking to add a driven and well-rounded litigation associate who brings strong legal skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in contributing to the firm’s collaborative culture and commitment to client service. This is also an opportunity to build a practice that supports emerging markets, including Red Deer’s large Filipino population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied litigation practice that may include commercial disputes, contractual matters, estate litigation, construction claims, employment matters, municipal issues, and general civil litigation.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to a broad client base, including individuals, businesses, and municipalities.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings and correspondence, and prepare for hearings, mediations, and trials for your client base.
  • Represent clients in court and before tribunals, with support from senior counsel as needed.
  • Develop and deepen relationships with clients and community members through trusted legal service and active engagement.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives, including strategic planning and business development activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver integrated, high-quality legal solutions.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta, or eligible for transfer.
  • 2–7 years of post-call experience, ideally with exposure to a broad range of litigation and general practice matters.
  • Strong client service approach with a demonstrated ability to build relationships in the community and contribute to business development efforts.
  • Experience in one or more of the firm’s core practice areas, including civil litigation, corporate/commercial law, wills and estates, or family law.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in building a long-term practice and pursuing future leadership or partnership opportunities within the firm.
  • Professionally curious, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a well-regarded, full-service legal environment.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills.
  • Fluency in Tagalog is considered an asset to support and serve Red Deer’s growing Filipino community.
  • Ability to manage files independently while also contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
