The Manager, Field Equipment Services is responsible for operational oversight of MEMS’ field equipment services across Canada. This role ensures equipment lifecycle planning, procurement, budgeting, compliance, maintenance and performance optimization. The Manager leads a team and is accountable for aligning operations with company standards, safety policies, and fiscal objectives. This position also contributes to monthly management reports and company communications and supports project mobilizations with effective equipment readiness strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead lifecycle management of field equipment, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, calibration and retirement
  • Oversee and optimize equipment utilization, tracking, and performance across all MEMS locations.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to inventory systems.
  • Conduct bi-annual site visits to MEMS Offices for audits and process reviews.
  • Work with HSE Department and assist in developing, implementing and monitoring field equipment safety and compliance programs.
  • Ensure adherence to MEMS policies and procedures, including inspection schedules, calibration, and operational readiness.
  • Establish and standardize audit and inspection tools and documentation practices.
  • Monitor and resolve equipment defects, damages and warranty claims.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define procurement and equipment lifecycle strategies.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure best pricing and service quality.
  • Approve purchase orders, invoices, and expenses aligned with equipment and mobilization budgets.
  • Work toward the Field Equipment Services KPIs for team performance, efficiency, and equipment readiness
  • Prepare and contribute to monthly management reports on equipment performance, operating costs, and strategic initiatives
  • Act as the point of contact for escalated equipment issues and failures
  • Oversee records and logs of service history, operational hours and asset data
  • Identify and track inventory of both owned and rented equipment; forecast future equipment needs based on input from service groups;
  • Supervision of Field Equipment Service employees.
  • other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Experience with the maintenance, inspection and sourcing of equipment required for various environmental assessment related activities is required.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a consultancy environment would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role, working with database/software.
  • Familiarity with general office related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and perform in a logistics environment.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 License.
  • Completion of post-secondary education.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, as well as the ability to develop working relationships with all areas of the organization.
  • Focused on providing excellence in service delivery.
  • Basic understanding of use, care and limitations of equipment.
  • Methodical and systematic, with attention to detail is required.
  • Able to multi-task, establish priorities, work well under pressure and tight deadlines both individually and in a team environment.
  • Basic computer knowledge and an understanding of record keeping.
  • Awareness or training in WHMIS, TDG and OH&S.
  • Experience with securing, hauling, loading and operation of ATV’s is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new technology and skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and be able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • environment that is a 50/50 mix of sitting and standing for alternating periods of time;
  • prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and computer screens;
  • manual dexterity required to use laptop and peripherals;
  • travel to other MEMS offices may be required on occasion;
  • sometimes requires long hours of work; and
  • required to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 30 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements.
