Role Summary:
The Property Accountant works closely with the Property Managers, the accounts receivable and payable team as well as the corporate team. In addition to preparing the financial statements and budgets for the buildings for which they are responsible, they ensures their reliability.

The Property Accountant works closely with the Property Managers, the accounts receivable and payable team as well as the corporate team. In addition to preparing the financial statements and budgets for the buildings for which they are responsible, they ensures their reliability.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements: analyze variances, accruals, major expenses, etc.
- Prepare budgets, revise expenses.
- Estimate the 13th invoice, explain the variances with the budget.
- Determine the prepayment of net rents and provide the information necessary for invoicing.
- Balancing property taxes.
- Review and generate monthly billings for tenants.
- Liaise with property management, leasing, and other departments regarding daily operations.
- Perform month-end closing, including preparation of financial statements and monthly financial reports, as well as analysis and discussion of monthly variances to support budget overruns and margin erosions for assigned properties.
- Work with property management and other departments to prepare annual budgets and quarterly reviews.
- Assist with year-end audit processes through the preparation of audit working papers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement or efficiency.
- Other ad-hoc projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 2-3 years if experience in real estate accounting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- CPA titles or in the process of obtaining the title (asset).
- Excellent time management skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- The ability to work in a team.
- Experience with Yardi is preferred.
