THE OPPORTUNITY: JOURNEYMAN AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

In this position, you will:

  • Maintain and repair school district fleet vehicles, including maintenance equipment while implementing and adhering to preventive maintenance programs as per NEC
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities on all VSB vehicles and machinery
  • Maintain and service dump trucks, backhoes, small pickup trucks, crew cabs, trailers, farm tractors, grass cutting equipment, tractor tilling equipment, spay tanks and other equipment as required


Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12 plus a minimum of five (5) years' of related experience
  • Real Seal Certification in Automotive Service Technician or Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic (please upload a copy with your application)
  • A valid B.C. Class 2 driver's licence with air brake endorsement
  • A strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and safety regulations
  • The repair and maintenance of single cylinder air cooled engines and knowledge of alternative fuels, and Automotive (Propane) Gas Fitters Ticket are assets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
