Casual Bus Cleaner & Maintenance Helper (On-Call/Casual)

We are looking for a Casual/On-Call Bus Cleaner & Maintenance Helper to keep our fleet in top condition. This role involves cleaning the buses inside and out, performing minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring our vehicles are presentable and safe.

Western Educational Adventures (WEA) is a small, family-run company that operates bus charters and outdoor adventure camps for youth and adults on Vancouver Island, primarily in the Greater Victoria area. Our goal is to provide high-quality and reliable bus services, and a big part of that is keeping our vehicles clean, well-maintained, and ready for the road.

Remuneration

$18-$25 per hour (based on experience and efficiency)

Hours

Casual / On-Call

• Work is scheduled as needed when buses require cleaning or maintenance.
• Cleaning and maintenance shifts may take place at various times (daytime, evenings, or weekends).

Expectations

WEA Bus Cleaners & Maintenance Helpers are expected to:

• Thoroughly clean the interior, exterior, and underside of buses.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, wiper blades, and other small repairs.
• Work efficiently to complete tasks within the scheduled timeframe.
• Have their own vehicle to travel between multiple locations in Greater Victoria.
• Be reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Follow safety procedures and handle cleaning products and tools properly.

Responsibilities

This contract requires you to perform various cleaning and maintenance duties, including but not limited to:

• Cleaning bus interiors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces, and emptying trash.
• Washing exteriors, including windows, mirrors, and bodywork.
• Cleaning engine compartments and undersides as needed.
• Performing minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, checking fluid levels, and tightening loose parts.
• Driving to different locations within Greater Victoria as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License & Own Vehicle (Must be able to travel between locations).
• Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching).
• Basic mechanical or maintenance skills (preferred but not required).
• Willingness to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
