About Us

InnerSpace is encouraging change to the future of indoor spaces by helping shape indoor environments around people, not just walls.

Who We are Looking for

Explorers - people who want their footsteps to be the first ever to step in certain places.

We are often trying to answer questions for which we don't know whether answers even exist. We need people who are comfortable with that level of unknown, who thrive in it, don’t need to be told what to do, and are comfortable being wrong, but are more often actually right.

In this role…

You are a code-smart thinker who loves tackling and solving tough problems. You are naturally curious, a fast thinker (and an even faster coder), you are driven and solution-oriented with deep data and coding experience, and a talented individual who brings both coding skills and strategic thinking to the table. The table that is shared with a small but strong group of people who want to leverage data to optimize space usage.

As a Back-End Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain server-side logic, APIs, and databases that power our applications. You’ll work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps to deliver secure, high-performing features and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable serverless functions, APIs, services, and databases
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and product teams to define and implement technical solutions
  • Optimize applications for performance and scalability
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Troubleshoot and debug production issues as they arise
  • Ensure security and data protection best practices are followed
  • Contribute to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and testing strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in back-end development
  • Proficient in Python and Java
  • Solid understanding of relational databases including Snowflake and Postgres
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and agile development practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud based multi-tenant SaaS platform development
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of message brokers (e.g., Apache Pulsar, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)

Here is what you can expect from us:

  • We offer competitive compensation that includes an equity component, and the chance to be a part of something really awesome!
  • We’re also remote first, so you aren’t tied to an office.
  • Oh, and did we mention long weekends? Yeah, each one is four days long, just so you have a little more time for you!

Currently, we are only able to consider applicants who are legally allowed to work in Canada.

We are committed to providing a barrier-free work environment in concert with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. As such, we will make accommodations available to applicants with disabilities upon request during the recruitment process.
