Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our close-knit team. The ideal candidate will support the work of a senior lawyer, collaborating with other assistants and contributing to the daily operations of the firm. You will have the opportunity to assist clients with major life transitions, including:
Drafting Wills and estate planning documents
Preparing estate administration materials
Coordinating real estate and business transactions
Supporting corporate legal tasks, including incorporations
You will also help manage office organization and contribute to a positive, efficient, and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and prepare legal documents related to wills, estates, real estate, and corporate matters
Assist with estate administration and client file organization
Coordinate real estate closings using Conveyancer/Unity and Teranet
Prepare corporate documents including incorporations and business purchase/sale transactions
Communicate professionally with clients via phone, email, and in-person
Support lawyers and team members with day-to-day office duties
Perform occasional local errands (e.g., bank runs)
Qualifications
Strong typing and basic office skills
Proficiency with legal software preferred (e.g., Conveyancer/Unity, Teranet, legal accounting software, WordPerfect, MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe)
Previous Experience In a Solicitor's Office Is Essential
Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma/certificate required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks
Professional and pleasant demeanor with clients and colleagues
Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle (required for occasional errands)
