What will you do?
Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week. Monday-Friday.
Salary: $39.153 - $49.215 (Hourly); $68,977.800 - $86,704.530 (Annually)
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly
Talent Acquisition Consultant: SL/SB
Edmonton rests in the heart of Treaty Six territory in Alberta and the homelands of the Metis Nation
What will you do?
- Read, interpret and comment on various types of architectural drawings and plans
- Review, interpret and comment on residential applications and applications for development permits, land use, rezoning, etc
- Conduct regular and timely site visits to all properties under construction and ensure any deviance from an approved drawing or plan is addressed
- Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss developments and ensure they are meeting Waste Services standards
- Support in addressing stakeholder concerns and inquiries
- Be familiar and understand the Waste Services bylaw and ensure it’s being adhered to in all new developments
- Be familiar and understand various City standards such as the Zoning Bylaw, Complete Streets Design standards, etc
- Assess some residential development in the City for the appropriate size and style of waste containers
- Conduct swept path analysis on assigned properties in Edmonton to ensure the site plan allows for the maneuvering of waste vehicles
- Maintain accurate and complete records of plans, drawings, letters, and any other documents related to all developments
- Use POSSE, SLIM, AutoCad, ArcGIS and other applications as necessary to complete daily tasks
- Address concerns raised by internal and external stakeholders
- Support relevant and related projects as needed
- Completion of a two (2) year diploma in an appropriate Engineering Technologist program
- Must be eligible to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET
- Two (2) years experience in a civil environment or related
- Experience in waste management
- Considerable knowledge of Zoning bylaw and Waste bylaw
- Analytical skills with the ability to prepare and present technical briefs and reports
- Computer drafting skills (AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of industry methods used in building design
- Familiarity with how architects and developers work
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to problem solve
- Knowledge of work methods, studies and analyses procedures, practices and terminology as related to the work assigned
- Knowledge of departmental and civic policies, regulations and operations affecting the work assigned
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders across different departments
- Experience in customer service and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in report writing is a requirement
- Well developed planning, time management, and priority setting skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Effective both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position

- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
