How will you make an impact in this role?

A thriving Lending Business is core to the success of American Express and achieving its growth aspirations. The International Lending vision is to be a growth engine that supports spend-to-lend customer behavior strategies across markets. The Lending & Line Ecosystem role is critical to the success of our business - with core responsibilities to lead business input, support development and deploy new Lending architecture, capabilities and strategies that will strengthen & deepen organic growth through fulfilling international customers’ broad borrowing & payment needs.


The Analyst position provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with business partners and to be a part of new capability releases and infrastructure enhancements that allow us to offer and/or manage Lending tools & constructs that are profitable, competitive and aligned with local regulatory requirements.


The successful candidate will build a broad network and interface with Lending teams across international markets. The role also includes robust partnerships with many teams across the Enterprise, including, but not limited to – New Product Development, Credit Risk, Technologies, Compliance, Control Management and General Council.


Responsibilities:
  • Support development of new lending capabilities, simplification of processes or improvement of customer experience across multi-market Credit Limit & Lending journeys based on strategic priorities.
  • Uplift customer journeys to address shifts in market regulations and detection of control management gaps.
  • Perform robust analysis to identify champion spend-to-lend strategies and provide strategic insights.
  • Assist to deliver regular assessments & updates to all relevant stakeholders – highlighting project progress and risks, where appropriate and overall business performance.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across markets and business units with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Fully understand regulatory implications to projects and ensure capabilities are 100% compliant with policies and legislation in markets.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong technical project management skills, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate issues.
  • Ability to drive robust results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Superior relationship management skills across a diverse network.
  • Extreme focus on the customer, ability to judge and understand customer needs and incorporate that insight into deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Although not essential, the following additional attributes will be considered advantageous:
  • Proficiency in data-mining activities.
  • Knowledge of American Express International AR & CFR platforms.
  • Product or Lending experience.
  • Strong academic background in a quantitative field (MSc,PhD,MBA) or equivalent industry experience.
