Position Profile:
Reporting to the Director of Avionics Programs, the Avionics Programs Specialist is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of avionics systems and programs. These systems include the electrical, communication, navigation, and flight control systems within an aircraft. The role combines technical expertise in avionics with project management skills to ensure that avionics programs are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Lead and manage avionics programs, ensuring that all deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budget.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, quality control, procurement, etc.) to implement avionics systems.
- Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all avionics programs comply with relevant aviation standards and regulations (FAA, EASA, etc.).
- Oversee the design, development, and integration of avionics systems within aircraft.
- Ensure that avionics systems are properly tested, certified, and integrated into the aircraft’s electrical systems.
- Work closely with engineers to address any technical issues and ensure system performance meets specifications.
- Coordinate and participate in avionics testing, including system validation, verification, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze test results and address any issues found during testing.
- Ensure all systems pass the required safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to avionics systems, programs, and test results.
- Ensure that all program documentation complies with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide detailed reports for internal use, certification authorities, and clients as needed.
- Identify areas for improvement in avionics systems and processes.
- Recommend and implement solutions to optimize system performance, cost efficiency, and safety.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure that avionics systems and components meet specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Manage relationships with external contractors or service providers involved in the avionics program.
- Ensure all avionics systems are designed and maintained in compliance with aviation safety regulations.
- Maintain a strong focus on operational safety, conducting risk assessments and safety audits where necessary.
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, avionics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in avionics systems or program management, preferably within the aviation or aerospace industry.
- Hands-on experience with avionics testing, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in avionics system design, integration, and certification processes.
- Knowledge of communication, navigation, flight control, and radar systems.
- Familiarity with software and hardware tools used in avionics testing and simulation.
- Certifications such as FAA Part 145, Part 121, or equivalent in avionics are a plus.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and coordinate teams.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, or traditional PMBOK).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Primarily office and hangar environments, with occasional travel to suppliers, testing facilities, and aircraft manufacturers.
- May involve some work in aerospace manufacturing or maintenance facilities.
