The Pensions Project Delivery team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Project Management & Delivery to lead the team, support key pension initiatives, and drive the successful execution of strategic projects across the Pensions organization.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Pensions Centre of Excellence, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of skilled Project Managers, mentoring their development, and championing project management best practices. You will also play a hands-on role in executing high-priority projects, ensuring alignment with Pensions’ strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives while consistently demonstrating the OMERS vision and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Project Managers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure effective execution of delivery methodologies.
  • Execute high-priority pension projects, driving key outcomes and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Promote and embed project management best practices across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide coaching and training to teams and stakeholders on delivery methodologies, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the Pensions team, establishing trust and delivering high-quality service.
  • Lead monthly project governance updates, including information gathering and preparation of presentation materials.
  • Partner with Product Managers to align project and product delivery processes.
  • Support team development by implementing continuous improvement practices and integrating feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure all team members have clear performance objectives and personal development plans, including maintaining required certifications and accreditations.
  • Champion and enhance the use of delivery tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project), including leading training and change management efforts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing projects (experience in the pension or financial services sector preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience directly or indirectly managing teams.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum, Agile) are considered an asset.
  • Strong adaptability, resilience, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with PMO and planning tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project); ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on organizational objectives over individual agendas.
  • Innovative mindset with a willingness to embrace new tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions like Co-Pilot.
