Senior Planner

Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Control Manager and working under the coordination of the Project Control Lead, the Senior Planner plays a strategic role in the integrated project controls team, leading the planning function for mining and construction projects across all phases — from engineering to commissioning. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and analysis of complex project schedules, ensuring the rigorous application of schedule management practices, driving proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies, and fostering a culture of planning excellence and accountability to enhance project delivery and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and management of integrated project schedules in Primavera P6, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure planning practices align with corporate standards, project execution strategies, and planning governance frameworks.
  • Oversee schedule progress tracking through critical path and earned value analysis, providing strategic insights to project leadership.
  • Facilitate progress meetings, look-ahead planning sessions, and schedule risk workshops with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assess and manage the impact of project scope changes on schedule and cost, and lead the implementation of approved changes through established change management processes.
  • Coordinate schedule review and validation sessions with project stakeholders to align forecasts and recovery strategies.
  • Develop executive-level reports, KPIs and dashboards to communicate schedule health and performance trends.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across planning systems and support audit-readiness through rigorous documentation.
  • Mentor and supervise junior planning staff, contributing to skill development, knowledge sharing and evolution of planning methodologies.
  • Champion proactive planning, continuous improvement, and a collaborative and solution-oriented work culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project planning for mining, construction, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven leadership in planning roles with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams, including clients, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, strong command of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expertise in earned value management, integrated scheduling, and schedule risk analysis.
  • Ability to communicate in French and English; Spanish and Portuguese are considered strong assets.

Additional Information

  • Position based at G Mining Services’ office in Brossard (Canada) or Belo Horizonte (Brazil).
  • Possibility of hybrid work (office presence expected is minimum 3 days per week).
  • Occasional travel to our offices abroad or project sites may be required to support execution, validate field progress, and ensure alignment with schedule baselines and project objectives.
