ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

SENIOR MANAGER, DATA SCIENCE (Hybrid-Calgary, Remote Considered)

As Senior Manager, Data Science, you will lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of AI-driven features and capabilities on our disruptive platform and/or products. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Technology, you will manage a growing team of Data Scientists and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, QA, Security, and other cross-functional teams. You will play a pivotal role in embedding advanced AI capabilities into our platform and/or products.

We’re looking for dynamic, forward-thinking professionals who: Have experience building and scaling generative AI projects. Bring a background in startups with an enterprise-grade mindset. Possess expertise in developing enterprise platforms. Have a passion for agile methodologies and rapid innovation.


What You Will Do:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Mentor and lead a team of Data Scientists, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, continuous learning, and impactful results.
  • Strategic AI Initiatives: Identify and drive opportunities to leverage AI and machine learning for business growth, ensuring the seamless integration of data-driven insights into our products.
  • AI/ML Development: Design, implement, and optimize machine learning models to solve complex problems in logistics, transportation, and beyond.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, QA, Security, and other teams to align AI initiatives with business objectives and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple AI projects, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining alignment with strategic goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the deployment and maintenance of AI models, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance in production environments.


What You Bring:

  • Educational Background: Advanced degree (PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in Data Science roles, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in Python for data science and machine learning.
  • Proficiency in C# for backend integrations.
  • Familiarity with Angular for web applications and Flutter for mobile application development and/or integration.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modelling, and data visualization tools.
  • Generative AI: Experience with generative AI technologies and their applications in business solutions.
  • AI Ethics and Responsible AI: Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible AI frameworks.
  • DevOps & Cloud: Experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and release management, particularly within Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Agile Methodologies: Proven ability to thrive in Agile frameworks, adapting quickly to changing priorities while maintaining focus on high-quality outcomes.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to identify strategic opportunities where AI and data science can drive business value, with a track record of delivering impactful technology products.
  • Engagement: Experience contributing and collaborating in a hybrid | remote work environment which includes hosting and attending camera on meetings as well as having a suitable professional home workspace that is conducive for hybrid work options.


Our ideal candidate is located in Calgary which is where our headquarters reside however, we will also consider qualified candidates that permanently live in and are eligible to work in Canada.
