Job Description:

On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support our Technical Lead during the discovery phase of a strategic Mainframe Modernization initiative. This role is instrumental in shaping the roadmap for migrating legacy mainframe systems to modern platforms and in supporting the development of a Request for Information (RFI) to identify and select the right vendor.



Responsibilities:

• Solution Analysis and Requirements: Interprets detailed information, considers different and complex solution options, provides recommendations, and translates highly complex business requirements into solution requirements.

• System Support: Identifies root cause of complex defects/incidents and communicates resolutions. Oversees quality assurance of systems changes and adherence to requirements.

• Communication and Documentation: Presents recommendations on complex technical or business issues to team members and client groups. Writes technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Presents and writes functional and design specifications, decision requests, and develops end-user documentation.

• Testing: Executes high-complexity testing. Develops and reviews systems and end-user testing plans and results to ensure applications meet both business and IT technical integrity requirements

• Planning: Supports or leads projects of enterprise complexity. Conducts cost/analysis and feasibility/advisability studies for new projects, develops detailed project work plans, executes and monitors plans for large scale projects.

• Leadership: Provides guidance and assistance to project team members. Coordinates and prepares system demos and training.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge/Technical Skills - Data modelling, process and system design, system architecture, functional capabilities, and configuration for high-complexity projects

• Business, statistical, and process analysis to determine opportunities for improvement, assess risk, and recommend and implement improvements

• Analytical/Problem Solving Skills - Identify root cause of complex defects/incidents and support resolution

• Impact assessments as a result of system design, technology changes/incidents

• Communication/Interpersonal Skills - Presenting recommendations on complex technical or business issues, both orally and writing complete complicated documentation in a clear concise manner

• Managing conflict and influencing change

• Organization Skills - Planning, prioritizing, and completing multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities, and requirements

• Leadership Skills - Coaching/teaching/mentoring on new approaches to Business Analysis, testing, and development practices

• Cross functional skills - Advanced understanding of concepts and the processes followed for software development and ability to identify improvements

• Advanced understanding of automated testing

• Enterprise understanding of system architecture
