The Role

As a Network Engineer, you’ll support both IT operations and network infrastructure across a distributed environment. From resolving Tier 2/3 support issues to managing firewalls, VPNs, and MDM tools, you’ll ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.

If you enjoy solving complex technical problems and making a real impact, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide Tier 2/3 IT support to Solink employees for macOS, Windows, and SaaS tooling issues.
  • Manage office and remote networking infrastructure, including UniFi APs, switches, VPN, and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Maintain and monitor network connectivity, configurations, and performance across our distributed environment.
  • Own end-user onboarding/offboarding, including provisioning devices, access, and network configurations.
  • Administer MDM (e.g., JAMF/Intune), identity management (Google Workspace, Okta), and user access controls.
  • Coordinate firmware upgrades, firewall policies, VPN configurations, and network segmentation for security and performance.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot site-to-site VPNs, VLANs, and access rules across internal networks.
  • Maintain IT documentation (network diagrams, asset inventory, access control runbooks).
  • Collaborate with Security and PeopleOps teams to ensure infrastructure and access align with SOC 2 and internal policies.
  • Lead or assist in projects related to network scaling, AV upgrades, new SaaS rollouts, or site buildouts.

What You Bring

Must-Have:

  • 3–5 years of experience in IT Operations, Helpdesk, or Network Engineering roles.
  • UniFi Certification and strong experience with UniFi networking stack: APs, switches, VPN configuration
  • Working knowledge of Fortinet firewalls and FortiGate/FortiClient VPN.
  • Familiarity with network fundamentals (IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, NAT, DNS, DHCP).
  • Proficiency in managing and supporting macOS, Windows, and cloud-based productivity suites (Google Workspace, O365).
  • Experience with MDM tools (JAMF, Intune) and identity providers (Okta, Azure AD).
  • Ability to troubleshoot Layer 1–3 network issues across wired/wireless environments.
  • Excellent documentation habits and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working independently in a distributed environment with remote-first workflows.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience supporting remote-first or hybrid teams at a SaaS or tech company
  • Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks
  • Scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation of IT workflows
  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools like FortiAnalyzer, UniFi Controller, or similar
  • Exposure to AV/meeting room systems and IT support for hybrid conference setups
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Zendesk, Freshservice)
  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles and implementation in endpoint/network security
  • Previous involvement in IT audits, access reviews, or internal security assessments
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNA, or JAMF/Intune certs)

Security Requirements

  • Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;
  • Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada;
  • Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards.
