Salary : $66,066 + plus extensive benefits and municipal pension plan

Hours : 7 hours per day

This position is 100% in-person at the VSB Education Centre (1580 West Broadway)

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

  • Perform office functions to support the Division
  • Process Extra Time, Overtime, Time Sheets, Mileage and other Payroll forms for data entry in PeopleSoft
  • Review Information submitted for conformity with established regulations, agreements, compliance and reporting procedures; refer borderline or doubtful cases to a superior for decision
  • Prepare and batch data for processing; check and balance summaries for accuracy and correctness as required
  • Process Information for Third Parties such as Records of Employment, WorkSafe BC claims, PEBT, BlueCross, BCTF Salary, Indemnity Plan, Pension Corporation and Canada Revenue Agency, etc.
  • Assist the Payroll and Benefits Technical Resources in processing and balancing payroll and/or benefits to expected results
  • Respond t employee inquires into their benefits and or/pay related queries
  • Process letters and statements and payments received for reimbursement and third-party transactions as required
  • Reconcile employee benefits in accordance with collective agreements and internal processes
  • Assist in retroactive calculations for back-dated contracts
  • Update and maintain employees' payroll information (TD1, BCTD1, direct deposit information, etc.)
  • Participate in review/maintenance and update of internal procedures, templates and spreadsheets
  • Perform other duties related to payroll and benefits administration as required


Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 plus a minimum of one (1) year post-secondary training in Accounting and completion of Payroll Compliance Legislation course
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting or Payroll
  • Thorough knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office programs
  • Previous experience with web-based benefit administrative systems and PeopleSoft Ben Admin an asset
  • Candidates must possess the following skills: sound judgement, exceptional customer service, excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be able to meet the VSB standard for the following assessments: Word and Excel (average=+75%), composing correspondence and applicable Accounting/Payroll.
