The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Business Support Specialist to join our Manitoba Operations in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position working on site.
As a Business Support Specialist, you will be responsible for site support to areas which consist of Administration, Finance, Procurement, Communications, operations to ensure business objectives are met.

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Business Support Specialist to join our Manitoba Operations in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position working on site.
As a Business Support Specialist, you will be responsible for site support to areas which consist of Administration, Finance, Procurement, Communications, operations to ensure business objectives are met.
Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Ensure all Projects and Services activities align with Vale Production Systems (VPS), policies, procedures, and other business units like mines and processing plants.
- Implement effective data collection systems, perform root cause analyses of performance issues, and develop solutions to optimize performance and asset capacity.
- Monitor the performance of unionized and non-unionized staff, take steps to improve team capabilities through development, and lead the change management strategy for organizational design and special projects.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and develop recommendations on plant initiatives, ensuring best practices are standardized and risks mitigated.
- Lead the coordination of plant Key Performance Indicators and prepare annual budgeting cycles and 5-year plans for all departments and cost centers.
- Chair weekly Leadership Meetings with a rotation including Monthly Risk Management review, VPS People review, and Monthly Finance Budgeting review.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting or a related field of study.
- Minimum 10 years of experience within an Underground Mining Operation
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role with experience in Operations
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, influence, and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development and the ability to convert complexity to simplicity
- Results-focused with strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills, and proficiency in MS Office products
