Reporting to the Client Service Manager, the Career Development Specialist B uses a case management approach to provide employment and training services to individuals and groups. Specifically, this position is responsible for the assessment and provision of employment counselling/planning supports to clients with varying employment needs; assisting clients in developing action plans to achieve long-term attachment to the labor market; facilitating individual and group skills development sessions; organizing and facilitating career development related workshops; providing information on government and community-related programs; networking with government and community partners to build knowledge of career/employment resources; referring clients to appropriate resources and services; and performing other related duties as required.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in a related social sciences field (equivalencies will be considered)
- Experience providing career and employment counselling
- Case management experience
- Experience facilitating seminars or workshops (asset)
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of career planning and development practices
- Knowledge of current labour market trends and issues
- Knowledge of current Federal/Provincial training resources and services (asset)
- Case management skills

- Ability to effectively exchange information

- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to work independently to manage time and tasks
