Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Transportation Planner / Engineer to join our growing team in Vancouver, BC. This senior-level role will be a discipline lead for the New Mobility team and requires a recognized expert in transportation planning, preliminary design, sustainability programs, ideally with Complete Streets, bike share and e-scooter programs experience. The ideal candidate will also have experience in leading consultation programs with stakeholders, agencies, and the public, multi-modal transportation planning and engineering, extensive technical expertise, project management, leadership, business development, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will lead the development and implementation of planning solutions, manage client relationships at the senior management level, and provide oversight and mentorship to a dynamic team of engineers and planners.

Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for leading transportation master plans, including major projects, and spearheading consultation programs with stakeholders, agencies, and the public. You will also guide municipal mobility plans, focusing on transit scopes, and oversee the execution of Complete Streets projects. Your role will extend to leading sustainability initiatives and planning, such as bike share and e-scooter programs, while providing expertise in mobility visioning. Additionally, you will perform senior-level technical work, delegating assignments and overseeing the completion of technical tasks by junior team members. Providing technical leadership and oversight, you will ensure the delivery of quality outputs, including technical reports, studies, and analyses related to multi-modal transportation planning projects.
Managing and supervising mid-sized teams and resources, you will direct project teams for successful execution, ensuring effective communication and technical guidance across team members at all levels. You will perform technical reviews of team outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Moreover, you will manage project budgets, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget constraints. Building and maintaining strong business relationships with public and private sector clients, you will handle relationship management at senior levels. Furthermore, you will recruit, motivate, and mentor team members to foster professional growth and meet project goals and objectives.
To support business development efforts, you will identify opportunities, prepare proposals, and present to prospective clients. Staying up-to-date with market conditions in Vancouver and Western Canada, including transportation policies, standards, and trends, will be crucial in your role. This comprehensive approach will not only position you as a leader in transportation planning and project execution but also enhance your capability to influence and drive sustainable mobility solutions in the region.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $178,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Planning Civil Engineering or related field
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Certification
- Over 15 years of experience in planning/engineering including leadership in sustainable transportation solutions
- Recognized expert in transportation planning/engineering with a strong professional network
- Proven success in directing medium-sized projects or parts of larger projects
- Strong strategic problem-solving and advanced technical knowledge in transportation planning/engineering
- Excellent project management and client relationship skills with senior management-level commercial acumen
- Superior written and verbal communication skills capable of delivering professional presentations
- Effective time management skills able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience with multi-modal transportation master plans major project leadership smart mobility trends and knowledge of BC and AB client needs and policies
