Here's how an Accountant for our Toronto office, located in Oakville, ON, contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Collects, reconciles, obtains approval, and processes through PCL business systems all project-related trade partner payments, general expenditures, and internal salary payroll costing allocations. Completes all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner to meet all contract payment terms as per legislation, contract terms, and PCL policy, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assembles client billings package in accordance with approval procedures and processes through PCL business systems to ensure the client is in receipt of billings on a timely basis and payments are received as per contract terms and conditions.
- Processes all accounts payable and accounts received in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reviews and analyzes monthly contract reports to ensure accuracy of cash-flow, fee reconciliation, and ledger balance.
- Assists with assembling information for internal financial reporting requirements (e.g., internal audit, monthly reporting, year-end) and external financial reporting requirements (e.g., external audit, government agencies, taxes).
- Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.
- Other duties as required.
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
- Active pursuit of accounting designation an asset.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash-flows.
- Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.
- Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, as related to accounting.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and high level of detail orientation, with the ability to accurately prepare and enter financial information to meet deadlines and requirements.
- Basic skills using Microsoft Office Suite and/or experience with accounting software.
