Working alongside organizational leaders, you'll craft innovative solutions, including strategic plans, budget development, and performance measures, directly impacting the success of our branch. Talent Acquisition Consultant: AS/SB
Edmonton rests in the heart of Treaty Six territory in Alberta and the homelands of the Metis Nation.
What will you do?
- Develop comprehensive strategic plans, performance indicators, and metrics to ensure alignment with Branch objectives
- Provide leadership, direction, and coordination for strategic planning activities, including:
- Oversight of budget programs and annual/long-term financial forecasting
- Creation of Branch business plans
- Formulation of short-term and long-term organizational strategies for the Branch
- Development of policies
- Preparation and delivery of briefings and presentations
- Serve as the Branch representative on City Committees and Branch teams
- Conduct environmental scans to analyze trends and identify opportunities to enhance the relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness of Branch operations
- Research, develop, implement, and manage strategic initiatives for the Branch and on behalf of the Branch Manager and/or Branch Leadership Team
- Offer leadership, research, analysis, monitoring, and recommendations on a broad spectrum of issues primarily at the Branch level, with potential involvement at the Corporate level
- Review Council, Committee, and ELT reports for accuracy and completeness, providing editorial feedback and guidance to staff during their preparation; reports may address Mayor/Councillor motions or inquiries, and/or public requests for Council input or direction
- Author or contribute to Council, Committee, and ELT reports, consolidating and prioritizing information from diverse sources to ensure the final product is clear, concise, and adheres to professional standards
- Identify strategic issues impacting the Branch and independently conduct research, provide recommendations, and implement solutions on behalf of the Branch Manager
- Fulfill other related duties as assigned
- Education in Commerce, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered
- Progressively responsible strategic and management experience in a medium to large organization, including experience in finance, project management, and/or change management
- Change Management (Prosci) and/or Project Management (PMP or CAPM) certifications
- Public sector experience
- Experience in business strategic planning, project management processes, and business process improvement
- Proven adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle diverse areas like political analysis, budget preparations, and project management
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a complex organization, build strong relationships, and communicate clearly with various stakeholders
- Proficiency in organization, time/project management, and advanced computer skills including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

- Up to: 1 full-time permanent position
- Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- Salary Range: $90,239.61 - $112,800.95 (Annually)
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
- Applicants may be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business auto insurance
