Role

You will play an important role in:

Reporting to the Team Leader, Environment, you will be responsible for managing the regulatory and environmental processes of renewable energy projects in Ontario and Western Canada. Your role will include:

  • Leading the process of obtaining authorizations and permits, ensuring timelines and documentation are maintained.
  • Managing consultants responsible for environmental assessments, permits, and authorizations.
  • Engaging with federal, provincial, and local regulatory authorities.
  • Integrating environmental and regulatory aspects into the design and delivery of projects.
  • Participating in public, Indigenous, and stakeholder consultation activities.
  • Supporting the development team in responding to Requests for Proposals.
  • Assisting the acquisition team in reviewing projects and portfolios.
  • Engaging in pan-Canadian review and analysis of advancements in environmental and planning regulations.

To Succeed In This Position, You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental studies, planning, or other relevant fields.
  • Three to 5 years of relevant experience in the environmental field.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal authorization processes; experience with the Planning Act is an asset.
  • Ability to review and summarize technical reports.
  • Autonomy, initiative, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership, strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar programs.
  • Experience with battery energy storage projects and the IESO procurement process is an asset.
  • Experience with wind and solar projects and knowledge of the Ontario Renewable Energy Act is an asset.
  • Experience in major project development is an asset.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset.

Please note that the position involves several business trips, primarily in Ontario, but may include travel to Quebec and Western Canada.
