Operations Planning & Monitoring collaborates with diverse teams and tackles exciting challenges across Infrastructure Operations. This role involves leading and ensuring alignment across diverse stakeholders within the Municipal Government, managing projects that may include public engagement, and contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies.

What will you do?

  • Lead the development and execution of projects related to Infrastructure Operations, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and City objectives
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resources, adhering to established project management processes
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including City departments, the Public Engagement Office, and external agencies
  • Conduct research, gather data, and analyze information to support project decision-making and the development of recommendations
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other communication materials to effectively convey project updates, findings, and recommendations
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, strategies, and performance measurement processes
  • Identify and analyze risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement solutions to address project challenges
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance project management practices and operational efficiency


Qualifications:

  • A university degree in science, engineering, business administration, statistics, mathematics, commerce, political science, or an equivalent field with relevant experience in organizational development, leadership, process improvement, business analytics, strategic planning, or change management
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management, research, strategic thinking, and report writing
  • Experience in standardization, strategic policy development, and stakeholder relations
  • Experience in supporting and facilitating multi-stakeholder technical or policy-setting groups or committees


Assets:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Training or certifications in change management and/or quality processes (e.g. PROSCI, CMQ/OE, Lean/Six Sigma, ISO 9001)

  • Project Management: Proven ability to effectively manage projects from initiation to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to gather, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions
  • Interpersonal and Relationship-Building Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align project goals with the broader organizational vision and objectives
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make sound decisions based on available information and analysis, considering potential risks and implications
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Google Suite applications and other relevant software tools
  • Experience working with diverse teams and fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations to various audiences
  • Knowledge of public engagement principles and practices
  • Familiarity with municipal government policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including office settings and occasionally shops, yards or outdoor field locations
  • May be required to work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate project needs, such as public engagement sessions

Work Environment:

  • The position is based in a typical office environment, with potential exposure to various environmental conditions during site visits and field work
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 6 months

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary Range: $46.086 - $58.232 (Hourly)

Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.
