Please Note: This is a General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada 12-Month Full-Time Contract with Competitive Salary and Health Benefits.

You must have either a 310S or 310T license to be considered for this role.

Key Job Elements

  • Provide advice, guidance and technical assistance to internal and external customers on vehicle maintenance issues and repair procedures
  • Assist in the development of repair estimates
  • Conduct technical inspections and troubleshoot automotive systems
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits on Light Armoured Vehicles
  • Liaise with internal and external customers for resolution of data and technical problems
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Prepare input for various management and log reports
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budgets and project status
  • Provide technical, test and repair support to customers at their sites when required
  • When required, act as lead repair technician, provide team leadership, instruct, monitor and inspect repairs of other technicians on site

Required Qualifications

  • 310S or 310T License; or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 -2 years relevant experience
  • Proficient communication, organization and prioritization skills
  • Experience working with teams and/or customers
  • Must be able to work swing shift
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks – i.e. lifting, climbing
  • Ability to drive a Fork Truck and operate Portable Cranes and other material handling equipment
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Shop / Manufacturing Environment

Physical Conditions And Hazards

The conditions in which an individual or staff works, including but not limited to such things as amenities, physical environment, stress and noise levels, degree of safety or danger, temperature, location.

  • Nature of Supervision: Medium (Some Self-directed work)
  • Work Interruptions and Distractions: Minimal to medium
  • Physical Environment: manufacturing/shop floor, some office
  • Hazards: Heavy machinery including but not limited to fork trucks and cranes, noise, dust, paint, temperature fluctuations, hand tools

Physical Demands Description

Typical postures may include standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, lying down and reaching at working heights ranging from below floor level to overhead. Tasks required on the interior of the vehicle will require working in a vertical space of 105 to 135 cm and may involve sitting, crawling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling and/or lying down to access some areas, as some tasks require working in areas with space constraints. The worker may also be required to lay on a creeper to complete work under the vehicle. Vertical clearance under the vehicle is approximately 65 cm.

Sustainment ship floor employees are required to climb on/off vehicles, which may include climbing through roof hatches, rear openings, and/or the driver’s hatch. It is common for Assemblers/FSRs to complete many assembly tasks in the same area of the vehicle while maintaining static or similar posturesfor a period of time.
