The Registrar's Office is seeking applications from qualified individuals to support the administration of Financial Aid. Reporting directly to the Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid Assistant Manager, the Financial Aid Compliance Officer will be responsible for guiding and advising students on how to finance their education, and ensuring operational processes follow federal standards
The incumbent will work as a member of the Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid team within the Student Experience Hub and co-located within Student Financial Services to provide support services to prospective, current, and former students. As part of the Student Experience Hub, the incumbent will be committed to being a partner in supporting student success and providing service excellence. The Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid area staff work as a team, evolving to ensure a high level of service within a busy environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support student and applicant query requests through accurate, timely, and professional communication in-person, electronically, and via telephone
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial financial aid programs
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial financial aid programs
- Review and address issues related to the University’s U.S. loans program and compliance
- Oversee all aspects of loan processing, reporting, and regulatory adherence, while also serving as a point of contact for students navigating the U.S. loan process.
- Support efficient operations of the scholarship, award, and financial aid cycles of the University, assisting with the receiving, compiling, and organization of applications for review, as well as the appeals process
- Support team members with monitoring, updating, and ensuring accuracy of Scholarships and Awards, and Financial Aid webpages, including regular promotion and advertising of available scholarships and awards through various University communication channels
- Organize information sessions and events to promote external financial aid opportunities
- Work collaboratively and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion for students, faculty, staff, and community members always
- Ensure sensitive and confidential student and other information is maintained in a professional manner
- Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary program in a related area, plus a minimum of
2 years’ relevant work experience - Experience with federal and provincial student aid programs
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information while adhering to FOIPP regulations is considered an asset
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, process, and document management skills
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, particularly in delivering client services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word, or equivalent applications. Experience using Recruit and Colleague program software is considered an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of ethical standards of integrity, fairness and confidentiality
