Responsibilities


The Communications & Student Outreach Coordinator will create and disseminate communications materials relevant to the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics' strategic objectives, including, but not limited to, its undergraduate and graduate programs. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the department website and social media platforms, which will include taking photographs and writing content. He/she will work closely with the Department Chair and Manager to advance strategic initiatives and communicate milestones in a timely manner. The Communications & Student Outreach Coordinator is also responsible for liaising with external visitors for our regular seminar series and named lectures.

In terms of student outreach, the incumbent will assist with the preparations for, and attend, recruitment events designed to promote our academic programs. He/she will work closely with our Student Ambassadors, Student Council and local chapter of the CSEB. Alumni outreach and engagement are also key deliverables.

Finally, the incumbent will serve as a resource to the Academic Program Coordinator, Manager, Administration & Finance, Graduate Chair and Undergraduate Chair, on related projects as needed.


Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree
Experience:
  • 2 years of administrative experience in an office environment
  • Experience developing web content (in Cascade preferably)
  • Experience writing original content for web-based and printed materials
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
  • Communication skills with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
  • Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a professional and timely manner
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to create a positive impression while interacting with others and responding to inquiries, by telephone, in person
or electronically
  • Results-oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual performance
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a part of an interdisciplinary team
