Ovintiv’s Canadian Operations team has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Instrumentation Mechanic/Technician. The successful candidate will be actively involved in maintenance, equipment optimization, start-up and commissioning of all equipment in the Dawson Creek area.
The present work schedule is four days on (ten-hour shift) and three days off with a regular on-call schedule. There may be a requirement to change shift schedules to provide adequate coverage in the future.
This position is located and will reside in the Dawson Creek area.
Responsibilities:
- Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level and composition.
- Calibrate, document, repair and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment in field and plant environments.
- Maintain area instrumentation, including pneumatic instruments, electronic devices, analytical equipment, Fisher ROC, ScadaPak RTUs, DCS systems, PLCs, analyzers and compressor panels.
- Utilize software to troubleshoot process issues in plant and field environments.
- Utilize, improve and author procedures for work practices.
- Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant and associated areas as required.
- Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response.
- Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
- Maintain proper documentation of calibration and repair records.
- Ensure ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training and process training.
- Share in the on-call duties of the instrumentation/electrical group.
- Utilize and follow CMMS program.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of related experience.
- Must have knowledge and relevant maintenance experience in sour and sweet gas wellsite, compression and processing facilities.
- Must possess provincial or interprovincial Instrumentation trades certification.
- Previous experience with specifically mentioned instrumentation and control systems would be considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience with and understanding of computerized maintenance management systems and procedures.
- Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
- Energetic self-starter who enjoys working in a collaborative in-office team environment.
- Proficient in the use and application of MS Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
- Demonstrates high safety standards.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Ovintiv Alcohol and Drug policy which includes pre-assignment testing.
