About The Team

We’re a team of engaged developers who love building reliable, scalable systems that solve direct customer problems. We’re an easy-going team and have found value in being open to learn new technologies and eager to dive into our applications to tackle a wide variety of technical issues.

As a team we are making significant investments into our tech stack by improving our data structure, increasing automation, scalability, and software quality. We have a challenging problem of building a comprehensive database of payer policy data and keeping it up to date.

Our technology stack is JavaScript, PHP, and Go, with PostgreSQL as our primary data store. Our single page application is written in React with D3. Many of us are full stack developers and we care deeply about building quality products.

Position Summary

We are looking for a self-directed, result driven leader who is ready to experiment with finding solutions for difficult problems, appreciates challenges, is not afraid of asking questions, and enjoys working with others and leading a team. A strong leader who leads by example, motivates, encourages, and challenges their team members and possesses the ability to communicate company goals and priorities in a clear manner.

The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team to set goals and identify gaps, therefore they must have the ability to think strategically, anticipate future business changes and plan accordingly while effectively managing and supporting their team members to be set up for success.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to the team. Including, but not limited to:
    • Code reviews
    • Development processes reviews
    • Code guidance, mentorship on software development best practices as needed
    • Architectural guidance
  • Conduct regular 1:1 check-ins with direct reports and meet with the team throughout the week to ensure forward progress on work and head off any obstacles which stand in the way of your team
  • Oversee time tracking for reports' projects and verify time is tracked correctly
  • Proactively identify roadblocks -- analyze situations, coordinate troubleshooting and problem solving activities, ensure proper follow up for post-incident analysis are completed and implement necessary process improvements
  • Contribute to projects as needed to achieve project goals
  • Upkeep personal technical skills and encourage the team to maintain a continuous learning mindset through education and participation in courses/seminars etc
  • Actively participate in monitoring and driving reports' performance toward departmental and company goals while ensuring they have opportunities for their own career development
  • Collaborate with teams outside of Engineering to ensure that all stakeholders understand project goals, requirements and realistic timelines

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a Software Developer
  • College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience in a technical leadership position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and solid organizational skills
  • High level of technical understanding and competence
