Mott MacDonald is seeking a highly skilled and experiencedPrincipal Project Managerto join ourEnergy teamin Calgary, AB. This is a strategic leadership role that combines technical excellence with business development and client engagement responsibilities. You will play a key role in delivering complex projects, nurturing client relationships, and driving growth in the midstream oil and gas sector.
The responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited to:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate the delivery of energy pipeline and facilities projects across multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee design coordination across multiple disciplines.
- Oversee project controls functions such as cost, schedule and document control as well as internal and external progress reporting.
- Oversee scope, cost and schedule change management
- Proactively anticipate, identify and mitigate project risks.
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure excellence in project delivery.
- Promote a high-performing, digitally enabled, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Drive business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities and contributing to strategic growth plans.
- Maintain an external focus, which includes industry involvement, and building new, and growing existing relationships
- Participate in and lead where necessary, the development of proposal responses and participate in client presentations and negotiations.
- Collaborate with the business development team to assess market trends and client expectations.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Mott MacDonald, representing our values, vision, and value proposition internally and externally.
- Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and securing repeat business.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of industry procurement models.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and registration as a P.Eng.
- Professional certification (e.g., PMP) is highly desirable.
- Fifteen years of project management experience in the midstream oil and gas sector.
- Proven track record in managing pipeline and facilities projects.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and design criteria.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and partners.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed.
- Commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing in all aspects of work.
- Experience contributing to strategic planning, market analysis, and client engagement strategies is a strong asset.
- Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
