We seek a passionate and experienced Director, Finance & Operations to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a critical role in shaping a mission-driven food brand's financial and operational strategy in high-growth mode.
This is a remote-first position, with the expectation of 2–3 in-office days per month at our Collingwood, Ontario headquarters. Preference will be given to candidates who can reliably commute as required.
As the Director, Finance and Operations, you will be a critical member of the Chickapea leadership team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and operational oversight. This role will drive financial planning, analysis, and reporting and ensure the efficient and effective management of all operational aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced finance professional with a proven track record in the CPG industry, adept at navigating a growing food brand’s unique financial and operational challenges.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Financial Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts
- Manage full-cycle accounting, month-end closings, cash flow, and variance analysis
- Provide financial guidance on pricing, innovation modelling, and margin improvement
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and supervise year-end audits and external financial relationships
- Support investor relations and capital planning through clear, strategic reporting
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Oversee and mentor the Accounting Manager and the broader finance function
Operational Oversight
- Lead demand planning in collaboration with sales and marketing
- Oversee inventory purchasing, ensuring optimal stock levels and waste reduction
- Manage relationships with co-manufacturers and suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and favourable terms
- Supervise inventory controls, cost allocation, and supply chain optimization
- Contribute to ERP optimization, process automation, and capital planning
- Champion cross-functional collaboration to support business strategy
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing Finance & Operations team
- Set clear KPIs and ensure accountability across departments
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and results
About You - Qualifications:
- A Chartered Accountant (CA) or a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
- 5–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including significant time in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) sector
- Experience in full-cycle accounting and financial close processes
- Strong background in inventory management and costing within manufacturing or CPG (must-have)
- Proven ability to drive financial strategy and support organizational growth
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and advanced financial modelling
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and large data set analysis; strong overall MS Office skills
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software; comfort with system optimization is an asset
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial data for cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
