Join the Engineering and Maintenance Section of the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) Branch as an LRT Service Person to provide routine servicing and inspection of Light Rail Transit (LRT) vehicles and related equipment. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.
What will you do?
Up to 2 permanent full-time positions
Hours of Work : 40 hours per week
Salary : $32.682 (Hourly); $68,240.020 (Annually)

What will you do?
- Perform inspections on LRT Vehicles
- Grease and lubricate train units such as the disc brake system, coupler assembly, etc., and related equipment
- Organize and assemble train consists to meet operational needs
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance checks and visually inspect vehicle components
- Work efficiently to organize and assemble cars to ensure they are in the correct locations
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of LRT vehicles as required Operate cranes, lift jack system, rim press and assists in splitting bogies and dropping from the vehicle
- Operate wash rack, forklift, pressure washer and sand transfer equipment and sandblaster
- Perform cleaning duties associated with Light Rail Vehicles including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, washing floors, including scheduled complete interior cleaning
- Complete necessary records and maintain spreadsheets as required
- Attend and participate in environment and health and safety training
- Interacting with members of the pubic, including vulnerable peoples
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
- Some experience in a mechanical shop environment
- Experience working in the transit industry with electrically powered transit vehicle
- Experience working in a rail system
- Knowledge of lubricating requirements of LRT units and related equipment
- Skilled in the use and care of tools, equipment and materials
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of a high hazard shop environment
- Knowledge of Google applications (Sheets, Docs. etc.)
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organization, time management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, as well as the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to understand, prepare and execute oral and written instructions

- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain an “A” Book Qualification on the LRT Rules and Regulations as well as courses related to shop procedures
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license or provincial equivalent. Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Passing a physical strength evaluation (Functional Ability Recruitment Evaluation test - F.A.R.E.) and a pre-employment City medical examination is a requirement of this position
- Applicants may be tested
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the duties assigned to the position such as lifting, climbing, operating railway switches and other related work under various weather conditions
- The successful candidate will be required work various shifts to provide 24/7 coverage
