Lead Project Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Instrumentation & Control Engineer, this position will be part of the team dedicated to electrical, instrumentation & control design and development for local and international mining projects. The incumbent will specifically be called upon to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead for instrumentation & control in mining projects.
  • Coordinate and technically coach a team of instrumentation & control engineers and drafters on multiple projects.
  • Plan resources and monitor progress of projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the client to define project requirements and scope of work.
  • Prepare and validate budget forecasts, ensuring they are presented on time and accurately.
  • Supervise instrumentation & control work on construction sites, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Coordinate cost estimates, schedules and design specifications ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Prepare detail engineering documentation including for P&IDs, connection diagrams, instrument list, input-output list.
  • Supervise the installation, testing and operation of automated systems.
  • Supervise or perform scheduling, factory testing (FAT) and commissioning.
  • Participate in the design of network and control architectures and the selection of instrumentation equipment.
  • Ensure coordination between different disciplines (mechanical, piping and electrical).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or automated production.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in mining and/or international projects is an important asset.
  • Knowledge of automation platforms (Rockwell, Ignition and Schneider) is an asset.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Be able to communicate in English and/or French.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.

Additional Information

  • The position will be based at G Mining Services in Brossard.
  • Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote).
  • Opportunity to travel abroad and within Canada, depending on the candidate’s availability.
