Job Title: Field Service Technician II - ON
Department: Lifecycle
Reports To: Technical Services Manager
Summary
Field Service Technician II builds on the foundational skills of Level I by servicing a diverse range of Newterra technologies beyond carbon pressure vessel systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and proactive customer engagement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Use of hands to control, handle and operate equipment. Accurate hand/eye coordination. Finger dexterity, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of equipment to maneuver or position. Work involves stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, standing, walking, or sitting for long periods of time. Lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Work environments vary based on service locations and may be indoors or outdoors. Exposure to hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, noise, machinery, hazardous materials, dirt, dust, debris, or fumes. Company safety standards must always be followed.

Summary
Field Service Technician II builds on the foundational skills of Level I by servicing a diverse range of Newterra technologies beyond carbon pressure vessel systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and proactive customer engagement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Service and troubleshoot various Newterra technologies, including but not limited to MBR, RO, Remediation, and Chemical Systems.
- Conduct system start-ups, commissioning, and maintenance for complex installations.
- Provide advanced technical training to customers and mentor junior technicians.
- Manage and resolve service cases using CRM tools, ensuring timely follow-up and documentation.
- Perform retrofits, upgrades, and customizations of equipment across Newterra’s technology portfolio.
- Diagnosing and resolve mechanical, electrical, and programming issues in diverse systems.
- Coordinate and execute travel schedules, including customer communications and on-site visits.
- Maintain awareness of project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to address recurring issues and implement solutions.
- Monitor operational parameters of treatment plants and provide feedback to management.
- Ensure adherence to Newterra and customer safety policies during field operations.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation in CRM systems.
- Identify and implement opportunities for operational or service improvements.
- Support Sales by identifying and communicating opportunities for additional services or upgrades.
- Mentor and train junior technicians to develop their expertise across Newterra’s technologies.
- Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures.
- Comply with Quality Management Systems in accordance with Newterra’s internal quality standards.
- Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Technical degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (preferred) or 5 or more years of experience in electrical work, electronics repair, or a related field.
- Experience troubleshooting 4-20ma and scaling of instrumentation
- Minimum of 2-4 years of technical field experience.
- Experience with servicing at least one water treatment technology (e.g., MBR, RO, PFAS,)
- Understanding of electrical drawings, P&IDs, and O&M manuals
- Some Understanding of PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel.
- Strong record-keeping skills and experience with CRM systems.
- Broad knowledge of water treatment processes and technologies.
- Advanced technical troubleshooting and repair expertise.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with a results-driven approach.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.
