Summary

Omineca is hiring a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Prince George, BC.

A day in the life of a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Omineca includes working independently and as part of a team to diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment at our shop and in the field.

Schedule

• Rotational
• 2 weeks of nightshift
• 2 weeks of dayshift

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty equipment such as forklifts, chip trucks, trailers, and loaders.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
• Complete technical documentation.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Attach components and adjust new equipment.
• Weld and fabricate to repair or modify equipment as needed.

Education, Skills, and Experience

• Red Seal or Certificate of Qualification.
• 4th Year apprentices may be considered and are invited to apply.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• A valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a safe environment
• Demonstrated strong work ethic.
• Must have own hand tools up to 1 ¼”.
