RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position Summary
Department / Research Program: Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health
“International Indigenous-led mobilization of the United Nations Inter-Agency Support Group on Indigenous Issues and the WHO consolidated guidelines of sexual and reproductive health and rights of Indigenous Women and Girls: Leading an intersectoral response through community-driven self-determination”
The project’s objective is to develop training and policy-related materials related to the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for Indigenous Women (those who self-identify as a woman or girl, inclusive of cis Women, trans Women, Two-Spirit, femme/feminine-identifying genderqueer, and non-binary people) that are relevant at both the global and local level.
We will achieve this objective by establishing evidence-based global SRHR metrics using an Indigenous community-based research framework. The project is co-led by an international team representing community organizations, researchers, and people with lived experience. It includes partners from Nigeria, Guatemala, Nepal, India, New Zealand, Peru, and Canada.
The Community Research Professional will report to the Canadian Research Coordinator.
The Community Research Professional will provide support for data gathering, data analysis and knowledge translation.

Education / Experience
Education: High School Education
Field of Study: Education and/or experience in Indigenous studies, gender studies, public health, social determinants of health, international development, or another relevant practice area would be beneficial.
An equivalent combination of education, leadership and/or research training and experience will be considered.
Work Experience
0-1 year of research experience and/or experience with facilitating health/social programs

Required Skills
Status: Temporary, part-time (20 hours per week)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $27.32 to $50.74/hour

General Duties
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist with study-related research activities for a project about SRHR in Indigenous communities in Canada,
- Collaborate with the research team involving knowledge keepers and Indigenous women living with HIV,
- Collaborate in recruiting study participants by identifying and screening potential subjects and obtaining informed consent,
- As part of the research team, implement data gathering processes and source documentation for the study to ensure the quality and integrity of data,
- Use focus group discussions and surveys to conduct data collection,
- Collaborate with the research team locally and globally in developing and designing evaluation processes, procedures, and research protocols for the study,
- Collaborate with research team and Community Advisory Council on data analysis, including thematic analysis of qualitative data,
- Collaborate with knowledge mobilization activities by preparing research presentations and posters, project summaries and manuscripts for publication,
- Build and maintain relationships with community-based Indigenous organizations and HIV/AIDS service providers.

Required Skills
- Strong preference will be given to Indigenous applicants with living and lived experience of HIV/AIDS,
- Strong interest and experience in conducting high-quality research,
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail,
- Comfortable communicating and working with Indigenous gender-diverse individuals living with HIV,
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently,
- Familiar with HIV- and SRHR-specific terminology,
- Experience working with Indigenous people at a community and political level, including community engagement,
- Demonstrated cultural safety and awareness competency through community engagement, knowledge development, and ongoing capacity building,
- Willingness to learn context-based research protocols.
