About The Role

This is a foundational role. As our first People hire, you’ll build the infrastructure that supports our team’s growth, experience, and evolution—across both the studio and the ventures we create.

You’ll work closely with studio leadership to manage all core people functions: HR operations, recruiting support, onboarding, culture-building, and internal mobility. You’ll also help define how we navigate transitions as team members spin out to join or lead new ventures.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, knows how to get the right systems in place without over engineering, and cares deeply about creating a workplace that people are proud to be part of.

What You'll Do

People Operations & HR Infrastructure

  • Own and manage people systems (Rippling, benefits, time off, documentation, compliance)
  • Design and run onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and internal documentation
  • Coordinate payroll and benefits administration with finance

Hiring & Talent Coordination

  • Partner with leadership to manage job postings, interview logistics, and candidate communication
  • Support candidate sourcing and maintain our applicant tracking process
  • Help identify and recruit talent for new ventures as they’re spun out of the studio

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Drive internal communication, rituals, and team events
  • Embed and evolve our studio values and working norms
  • Act as a resource for employee needs, questions, and internal transitions
  • Help us proactively manage morale and retention as our team grows and evolves

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–7 years of experience in People Ops, HR, or Talent roles, ideally in a tech startup or innovation-driven environment
  • Ability to build HR systems from scratch—practical, not bureaucratic
  • Familiarity with tools like Rippling, Gusto, or similar platforms
  • Strong communicator, organized operator, and empathetic partner to employees and founders
  • Comfortable balancing process and speed; you’re okay iterating in the open
  • Interest in the venture studio model and building the next generation of companies
