The Role
This is a pivotal role for a skilled artist who loves building immersive environments that enhance gameplay and storytelling, creating stunning environments within a stylized role playing game. Working closely with a talented art team and reporting to the Art Director, the Senior Environment Artist will define the look and feel of natural and architectural spaces in an established stylized art direction. From blockout to polish, this artist will bring entire worlds to life, balancing artistic vision with performance and gameplay needs.
Responsibilities
- Create stylized 3D environments, including terrain, foliage, props, and structures
- Collaborate with design, tech art, and lighting teams to ensure visual consistency and optimal performance
- Develop and maintain environment pipelines, tools, and best practices
- Own large environment features or levels from concept to final polish
- Provide mentorship to junior artists and review assets for quality and consistency
- Integrate assets into Unity and troubleshoot any art-related technical issues
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an Environment Artist in game development
- A strong portfolio showcasing stylized 3D environments, creating visual environments and experiences.
- Proficiency in Maya or Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, and Unity
- Solid modeling, sculpting, lighting and texturing skills.
- FX experience is a huge plus.
- Experience with foliage, terrain systems, and modular world-building.
- Solid understanding of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
