About Us
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).
Responsibilities
The Part-time Program Manager, under the direction of the Director of ICOS, will develop some of ICOS’s programs (new and existing), facilitating integrative links with ICOS’s research program and partnerships. The Program Manager works closely with the IOCS Director in the development and execution of strategic and operational plans to deliver on the mission and vision of the ICOS.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support the ICOS Symposium held as part of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games – including organizing the call for abstracts, evaluations etc.
- Review and determine the best approach for the publishing, dissemination of Olympika – the ICOS journal. With consideration for revenue generation, partnerships, research impact.
- Develop an AI and digitization strategy for archives and potential funding options.
- Review opportunities for revenue generation through the development and deployment of a Podcast or other form of knowledge mobilization / translation for ICOS.
- Develop a strategy to extend the international network and global reach of ICOS.
OUTCOMES OF THE ROLE:
- ICOS planning and programming meet high quality program benchmarks and positive financial outcomes.
- Strong collaborative relationship is maintained with ICOS Director and other stakeholders
- Compliance with all relevant administrative policies, procedures, regulations and legislation
- ICOS Programs and strategies are comprehensive and take into account current and future factors
- Well-prioritized work plans based on sound assessment of urgency and appropriate consultation with ICOS’s Director
REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional Qualifications & Education:
Minimum Required:
Masters’ degree in Kinesiology (philosophy and/or history)
Preferred: PhD in Kinesiology (philosophy and/or history)
- Experience
Minimum Required:
2 years’ experience with ICOS
Experience with the development and implementation of programs related to ICOS
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of, skills with and abilities to develop, to implement and to monitor evidence-informed ICOS programs, and strategies.
Knowledge of, skills with and abilities to communicate and to collaborate effectively with the lay public, UG and G students, academic faculty, community partners, other ICOS and Western staff, research partners.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization.
Ability to establish and build healthy working relations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop shared vision to develop strategies.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self effectively.
Ability to ensure resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required.
Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and to work effectively and efficiently with ICOS.
Passionate about delivering high quality outcomes, while being able to function in a high-performance environment.
