About The Branch

Yukon Public Libraries operates 15 public libraries in communities throughout the Yukon, including the administrative centre at the Whitehorse Public Library. Yukon Public Libraries support the growth and development of Yukon people, associations and communities through a public libraries network by providing community education, information, culture and recreation opportunities and resources for life-long learning and an educated, informed and healthy public.

About The Job

The Library Assistant (LA) is an integral part of a diverse team of around 25 including: librarians, library technicians, and other library support staff. LA’s are responsible for assisting members of the public in using library resources such as the catalogue, library website, and equipment such as printers and scanner. LA’s main priority is providing customer service, circulation, and other support services to Whitehorse Library patrons, and may from time to time provide administrative and other supports to Yukon Public Libraries in general.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the following qualifications. Please note, selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced customer focused environment;
  • Competence in various computer applications (e.g. MS Office, MS Teams, e-readers) and adaptable to ever-changing technologies;
  • Experience working in a library is considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.
